Executive Summary

Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) is implemented to assess and evaluate future traffic growth and its resultant impact between existing road network, transport infrastructure and propsed land development projects.

Development projects that would generate significant additional traffic require comprehensive TIA. Without a clear picture of the type of traffic movements or their scale, timing, and location, there is a high risk of traffic congestion and safety concerns where the development connects to the roadway network.

Thus, preparing a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) report is a complex process that ensures sustainable, safe and efficient transportation systems for the future.
Objective

Objective of this course are:

a. Develop a solid base of knowledge in TIA for types of development projects
b. Evaluate existing road traffic and transportation conditions on different scales of networks
c. Understand the overall framework of a TIA study
d. Identify potential adverse impacts on the current road network and transportation system and to proposed development projects
e. Evaluate traffic conditions in the future year
