Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) Awareness

Quality is one of the key pillars of construction, alongside time and cost. However, it is often subjective and challenging to quantify.

CIDB, in collaboration with working groups from both public and private sectors, developed a Construction Industry Standard (CIS) in 2005 to establish a baseline for quality requirements in the industry.

This effort led to the creation of the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC), based on **CIS 7:2014, which provides a standardized and objective method to assess and evaluate the quality of building construction works. QLASSIC measures workmanship quality through a systematic inspection and scoring process based on predetermined criteria. It covers key elements of construction such as structural works, architectural works, mechanical and electrical components, and external works.

By adopting QLASSIC, construction projects can ensure consistency in quality, minimize defects, and enhance customer satisfaction. It also helps contractors and developers benchmark their quality performance, promoting continuous improvement across the industry.
