Course Outline

Executive Summary

When roadwork or construction activities take place on or near road surfaces, drivers inevitably encounter unpredictable changes in traffic flow. These changes can pose risks to road users, workers, and pedestrians if proper safety measures and work procedures are not implemented effectively.
Road users may struggle to distinguish between construction site conditions and active work zones, making it essential to prioritize traffic control measures for everyone's safety.
Competent managers play a critical role in ensuring the success of traffic management efforts. Recognizing this need, CIDB Malaysia has developed the Construction Industry Competency Standard (CICS) for Construction Traffic Management Officers, classified at Level 4 of the National Occupational Structure. Individuals who meet the required knowledge and skill standards are awarded the Construction Skills Competency Certificate as Accredited Construction Traffic Management Officers.
Objective

The objectives for the Construction Traffic Management Officer certification program are:
-To offer construction traffic officers serving in the Malaysian construction industry an option to acquire recognition as Accreditated Construction Traffic Management Officers.
-To elevate the competency level of the Malaysian Construction Traffic Management Officer to an internationally recognised level.
-To create a better road traffic system in an orderly and systematic traffic flow through the services of an accreditated construction traffic management officer.
Target Group

The target group for this course includes Construction Site Managers, Traffic Management Officers (TMO), Supervisors in Road and Infrastructure Projects, Safety and Health Officers (SHO), contractors and subcontractors involved in roadworks, local authority representatives overseeing construction projects, as well as engineers, technical staff, and traffic control personnel.
